Days Out
There are a multitude of fun, adventurous and educational activities around the UK for both children and grandparents to enjoy. If you haven't visited your own local museum since your own children were young then you may be in for a surprise as many have been updated and are far more child/user friendly. In this section we will give you suggestions of great days out for you and your grandchildren.
Click on the white headings in the navigation to find a great selection of activities all around our country. We don't give you opening times or prices since these tend to change at a regular basis. We give you the website link to each place and recommend you check for more detailed information before you head off for your adventure with your grandchildren. If you've chosen a museum or gallery to visit and want to get there using public transport, you can use Directgov's online journey planner to work out how to get there.
Glorious Grandchildren would like to recommend joining the National Trust - whether you are interested in gardens, wildlife, castles or history. For a very reasonable sum you can visit some of the most beautiful places, parks, estates and gardens in the UK for free for a year. Your grandchildren can then join you for free. Many of our recommended destinations are included in the English Heritage collection of sites. As amember of English Heritage you'll be helping in safeguarding our heritage for the benefit and enjoyment of all. Plus you will gain free entry to over 400 historic attractions.
What's on
In addition to their featured exhibitions, museums and galleries often hold special workshops, activities and events. These are often aimed at children and are usually arranged to coincide with the school holidays.
